How do I ask that a check not be paid?
You can ask Wells Fargo Online®, over the phone, or by going to your local branch and talking to a banker to stop a payment.
Sign in to Wells Fargo Online and click on the Account tab to get to Manage Accounts.
Call 1-800-TO-WELLS to put a stop payment on a check by phone (1-800-869-3557). When you talk to a banker, please have the following information ready: the name of the payee, the account number, and the amount. Number of paper item or range of paper item numbers, date of paper item, and amount of paper item.

The payment stop will stay in place for six months. To get rid of a stop payment, call 1-800-TO-WELLS (1-800-869-3557) or go to a branch near you.
There is a charge to stop a payment. Look at your Consumer Account Fee and Information Schedule or call us at 1-800-TO-WELLS for information about your account's fees (1-800-869-3557).
There is no charge to put a stop payment on a blank check that was lost or stolen.
Putting in a stop payment order will not get you out of any contracts. You might still have to follow the terms of the deal.

Zelle® is a way to send and receive money without having to pay a fee. But if you use Zelle® on a mobile device, you may have to pay your mobile carrier's message and data rates.
